Hospice charity helped by housebuilder

Employees from the award-winning housebuilder William Davis Homes reached new heights by completing a mammoth hiking challenge to raise £5,000 for a hospice charity.

A team of 32 from the company’s head office and construction sites donned their walking boots and waterproofs for the 24-mile Three Peaks Challenge in Yorkshire.

Their feat of endurance was in aid of the Myton Hospices, which help terminally ill people and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire.

It follows the opening of William Davis Homes’ West Midlands office in Leamington Spa last year. The company already has successful housing developments in Warwickshire.

All 32 team members completed the challenge, climbing three peaks – Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under 12 hours – even battling through a thunderstorm on the way.

William Davis Homes HR Manager Rebecca Jones was among the hikers and said: “Everyone involved enjoyed the challenge to support such a good cause. The work of Myton Hospices is so valuable and we’re pleased and proud to raise this money to help them.”

Myton Hospices Corporate Fundraiser Martin Watts said: “Everyone at Myton congratulates the team at William Davis Homes for completing the Three Peaks Challenge. We’d like to say a huge thank you for raising the amazing sum of £5,000 for the Myton Hospices.

“We cannot do what we do – providing care to terminally ill people across Coventry and Warwickshire, including the only inpatient hospice beds in the whole region – without the help of our supporters.

“This donation will go a long way towards enabling our wonderful doctors, nurses, nursing assistants and other care staff to look after our patients and their families.”

The employees at William Davis Homes have built a reputation for helping good causes by taking part in various activities and challenges. Last year, employees formed a team of 26 that raised more than £10,000 for the Rainbows children’s hospice, by taking part in the annual Leicestershire Chase The Sun race.
