Green Fingered Children Get Planting For Gardening Week

Schoolchildren in a Leicestershire village have been exercising their green fingers as part of National Children’s Gardening Week.

Pupils at Burton on the Wolds Primary School visited Honeysuckle Rise’ development in the village and planted several rows of colourful flowers.

The school’s headteacher, Claire Wilson, said: “The pupils really enjoyed putting their green fingers to good use.

“They learned a lot during their visit and it was wonderful to see them working as a team to help brighten-up the local environment. We’ll look forward to seeing the flowers bloom over the summer.”

Last year, a group of pupils from the school helped to install several hedgehog homes in the housing development. The visit was part of their work to learn more about the local environment.

Michele Rose, Group Sales and Marketing Director, said: “We were delighted to see the children again. They took a lot of care with the planting of the flowers and shrubs and did a great job.”

The newly-planted flowers have added a colourful feature to Honeysuckle Rise. The development has a range of energy efficient 2 to 5 bedroom homes, all beautifully designed inside and out.
