Moving home.

When you buy a new home, you pay Stamp Duty on the purchase price of the lease. If the total rent over the life of the lease is more than the Stamp Duty threshold (currently £250,000), you’ll pay 1% on the portion over £250,000.

Additional property.

Stamp duty rates have increased for anyone purchasing an additional property. Additional property types include buy to let investments and second homes. Since April 2016 a 3% surcharge has been applied on top of the normal Stamp Duty rate.
